Mikkola, türün irilerinde de üst gövde ağırlığı oranının değişmediğini, 46 kg (101 lb) ağırlığında, 3 cm (1,2 in) uzunluğunda olduğunu belirtir.[6][7] Türün tipik kanat aralığı 131-188 cm (4 ft 4 in-6 ft 2 in)[6] genişliğinde, irilerinin ise 2 m (6 ft 7 in) olabilme ihtimali vardır.[8][9][10] Türün vucut uzunluğu toplamda 56 ila 75 cm (22 ila 30 in) aralıklarında değişkenlik gösterir.[6][11][12] Dişilerin ağırlığı 1,75-4,6 kg (3,9-10,1 lb) arasında erkeklerin ise 1,2-3,2 kg (2,6-7,1 lb) aralığında değişir.[6]

Geceleri aktiftir. Güneşin batımından bir kaç saat sonra ve doğuşundan bir kaç saat öncesinde hareketlenir.[27]
