Amerikalı sinema oyuncusu (1927 – 2022)

Joe Turkel (d. 15 Temmuz 1927, Brooklyn, New York - ö. 27 Haziran 2022, Santa Monica, Kaliforniya), üretken Amerikalı karakter oyuncusu. 1927 yılında Brooklyn'de doğan Turkel Polonya Yahudisi göçmen bir ailenin çocuğudur. 17 yaşında Amerika Birleşik Devletleri Ordusu'na katılan Turkel II. Dünya Savaşı'nda Avrupa Cephesi'nde görev almıştır. Sinema kariyerindeki ilk rolü 1949 yılında City Across the River filmidir.

Birkaç filmde Joseph Turkel adı ile yer almıştır. En bilinen rolleri; Ölüm Takibi'ndeki eksantrik Tanrı figürü Dr. Eldon Tyrell ve Cinnet filmindeki hayalet barmen Lloyd'dur. Stanley Kubrick ile üç kere çalışan iki aktörden biridir (diğer Philip Stone). Kubrick ile çalıştığı filmler; The Killing (1956, "Tiny" rolü), Paths of Glory (1957) ve Cinnet filmleridir. Ayrıca ünlü bilimkurgu yazarı Philip K. Dick'in "Android'ler Elektrikli Koyun Düşler mi?" kitabından uyarlanan ve Ridley Scott'ın yönettiği 1982 yapımı Blade Runner filminde Dr. Eldon Tyrell karakterini canladırmıştır. The Boy and the Pirates (1960), The Sand Pebbles (1966), The Dark Side of the Moon (1990) filmlerinde de rol almıştır. Kojak, Tales from the Darkside, Bonanza ve Miami Vice adlı televizyon yapımlarında oynadı.

Anita Josephine Cacciatore ile evlenmiştir ve bu evlilikten iki çocuğu olmuştur. 2014 yılında yaptığı bir röportajda Paths of Glory'nin oynadığı filmler arasında en sevdiği film olduğunu belirtmiştir. Ayrıca Turkel kendisini Liberal Demokrat olarak tanımlamaktadır. Ölmeden önce yazdığı kendi anılarını anlattığı kitabı The Misery of Success'in 2022 yılının sonlarına doğru çıkması beklenmektedir.

27 Haziran 2022 tarihinde, Santa Monica, Kaliforniya'da tedavi gördüğü hastanede 95. yaş gününe bir aydan az bir süre kala, 94 yaşında hayatını kaybetti.[2]
