Bonner, 28 Şubat 1942'de Little Rock, Arkansas'ta doğdu. Malvern, Arkansas'ya yetişti. 1970'te başladığı oyunculuk kariyerini 2014 yılına kadar devam ettirdi.[3][3][4] TV yapımı komedi türünde dizi menajer Herb Tarlek rolünde olduğu WKRP in Cincinnati ile tanındı.
Yer aldığı diğer bazı yapımlar arasında; Equinox, Night Court, Mannix, Family Feud ve Love, American Style sayılabilir.[5][6]
Özel yaşamı ve ölümü değiştir
Bonner, 1966-1971 yılları arasında Sharon Gray, 1972-1975 yılları arasında oyuncu Mary Alice Rings, 1977-1980 yılları arasında oyun yazarı Lillian Garrett-Groag, 1981-2005 yılları arasında Catherin M. Sherwood ve 2006'dan 2021'deki kendi ölümüne kadar eski okul arkadaşı Gayle Hardage ile olmak üzere beş evlilik yapmıştır. Beş çocuk sahibiydi.[7] Bonner, 16 Haziran 2021'de yaşamını sürdürdüğü Laguna Niguel, Kaliforniya'da demans hastalığına bağlı sağlık sorunlarından dolayı 79 yaşında ölmüştür.[3][3] [4][8]
