Açıklama A circa 1899 colour photograph by Dr. Richard Neuhauss, made using the Gabriel Lippmann interference method of direct colour photography. Neuhauss was one of the foremost experimenters with this challenging and ultimately impractical process, which typically required exposures lasting several minutes. His taxidermy specimen of a Superb Parrot (Polytelis swainsonii) was a favourite test object. (NOTE: As indicated by its file name, when uploaded, this image was misidentified as having been made by Lippmann himself, and misdated to 1891, the year the process was introduced. For confirmation of the true authorship, see the uncropped reproduction of this or a virtually identical specimen, showing its contemporary identifying label, at gettyimages.com (image #90763730).)
