ID#: 4238 Description: This photomicrograph depicts conidia-laden conidiophores of a Phialophora verrucosa fungal organism from a slide culture.

Note the flask-shaped phialides, each lipped by a collarette. Each phialide terminates in a bundle of round, to ovoid conidia. Phialophora spp. are known to be a cause of both chromoblastomycosis, and phaeohyphomycosis.
