Cornelius Nepos
Cornelius Nepos, M.Ö. 110-25 yılları arasında yaşamış biyografi yazarıdır. Günümüze tam olarak ulaşan eseri yoktur, sadece diğer yazarlar tarafından alıntılanan parçaları bilinmektedir. Özellikle Cato’nun hayatını yazdığı biyografisi önemlidir.[1] İmparator Augustus döneminde yaşayan Nepos; Cicero, Atticus ve Catullus’un çağdaşıdır. Hayatı hakkında başka bilgi bulunmamaktadır. Günümüze tamamı ulaşan eseri yoktur.[2] Plinius, Naturalis Historia’da Nepos’un kısa bir biyografisini verir ve zaman zaman Nepos’un bitki isimlendirmelerinden faydalanır.[3]

Nepos'un metinlerinin neredeyse tamamı günümüze ulaşmamıştır, ancak takip eden yazarların eserlerinde yer verdikleri fragmanlardan bilinmektedir. Aulus Gellius'un Noctes Atticae adlı eseri bu bakımdan hayli önemlidir.

- Epistulae ad Ciceronem (Cicero'ya Mektuplar).
- Excellentium Imperatorum Vitae (günümüze ulaşan tek eseri. Eserin De viris illustribus'un bir parçası olduğu düşünülmektedir.[5]
