Vespucci'nin tarihteki önemi, yaptığı keşiflerden ziyade, kendi yazmış olsun veya olmasın, mektuplarında yatmaktadır. Bu mektuplardan dolayı Avrupalı halk Amerika hakkında ilk kez bilgi sahibi oldu. Amerika'nın varlığı bu mektupların yayımlanmasından sonraki birkaç yıl içinde Avrupa'da yaygın olarak bilinir hale geldi.

Italian sailor Amerigo Vespucci was born in Florence on March 1454. He got education about Geography and Cosmology from his uncle Giorgio Antonio.
 
In 1479, he gone France as a representative for Medici family. He turned homeland then he began work on Medici’s Bank in Lorenzo. In 1491, He got work in Medici’s shipping agent in Sevilla in Spain. Those days he met Christopher Columbus when Christopher Columbus is preparing for his third voyage.Vespucci went his first discovery travel with commander Alonso de Ojeda in on May 1499. During this trip, he wandered coasts of Brazil then he reached the point where Amazon River turns to sea.He was thinking when he wandering Trinidad and Haiti Islands the found lands were parts of the Asian Continent.He wanted to a new voyage but Kingdom of Spain didn’t allow him.Then he gone to Portugal for work for Portugal.
 
He gone his second trip for research  about relation between Brazilian lands and lands found by Spanish sailors on May 1501. When he reached Cabo de Santo Agostinho after he discovered Rio de Janeiro Gulf.Then he bended to south and discovered Rio de la Plata.After wandering coasts of Patagonia he turned back to Lisbon on July 1502.During this trip he become aware of found lands weren’t part of Asian Continent and he called  “New World” for found lands when he typing letters about trip.
 
He gone his third trip in 1503.There was a storm and he didn’t reach anything.After he turned back in 1504.He began working again Spain then he moved to Sevilla in 1505.He was appointed chief guide and he contributed education of new sailors.He commemorated as founder of New World in a geography book written by Martin Waldseemüller in France in 1507.
