Kozmikizm

Kozmikizm, Amerikalı yazar HP Lovecraft'ın geliştirdiği ve kurgularında kullandığı edebiyat felsefesine verdiği isimdir.[1][2] Lovecraft, astral ele geçirme ve uzaylıların melezleşmesi gibi gizli fenomenleri içeren bir korku öyküleri yazarıydı ve kurgusunun temaları zaman içinde bu felsefenin gelişmesine katkıda bulundu.[3]

Kozmik felsefe, evrende tanrı gibi tanınabilir bir ilahi varlığın yokluğunu ve insanların galaksiler arası varoluşun geniş şemasında özellikle önemsiz olduğunu savunan bir düşünce akımıdır. Bu felsefi yaklaşımın en belirgin teması, insanlığın kavranamayacak kadar büyük bir evrende kendi önemsizliğinden duyduğu derin korkudur. Bu korku, kozmik boşluk korkusu olarak adlandırılır ve bireylerin evrenin muazzam boyutları karşısındaki anlamsızlık hissini ifade eder.[4][5][6][7][8]

Kozmiklik ve evrene ilişkin insan merkezli görüşler birbiriyle uyumsuz olduğu savunulmaktadır.[2][9] Kozmikçilik nihilizmle birçok özelliği paylaşmaktadır; ancak önemli bir fark, kozmikçiliğin daha büyük bir amacın (veya amaçların) olası varlığını özetle reddetmek yerine, insanlığın ve yaptıklarının önemsizliğini vurgulama eğiliminde olmasıdır.[10]

Lovecraft'ın karakterleri, tanınabilir geometrinin ortadan kaldırılmasıyla özellikle kurgulanmıştır.[11] Lovecraft'ın çalışmaları aynı zamanda okuyucuya, "Dunwich Horror" ve "Dagon" hikayelerinde olduğu gibi, çoğunlukla bilinmeyeni insanlık için korkunç bir tehdit olarak ima etme eğilimindeydi.
