Dispholidus typus
Dispholidus typus (veya boomslang) Sahraaltı Afrika'nın yerlisi olan göreli küçük zehirli bir kırbaç yılanıdır.[2] Geçmişte birkaç tür ve alt tür tanımlanmış olsa da boomslang cinsindeki tek türdür. Yılanın adı Afrikaanca ve Felemenkçede "ağaç yılanı" anlamına gelir ("boom" ağaç ve "slang" yılan anlamındadır).[3] Yılanın, Dispholidini oymağını oluşturan Thelotornis, Thrasops, Rhamnophis ve Xyelodontophis cinslerinin üyeleri ile yakından ilişkili olduğu düşünülmektedir.[4]

Üreme değiştir
Boomslanglar oviparözdür. Yumurtaların kuluçka süresi göreli olarak uzundur (ortalama 3 ay). Yumurtadan yeni çıkmış yavrular grimsi renkli ve mavi beneklidir. Birkaç yıl içinde de yetişkinlikteki renklerine kavuşurlar.
