Ames testi

Ames testi, (İngilizce: Ames test) mutasyona uğrayan bir hücreye diğer bir mutasyon ya da geri mutasyon uygulaması yapılarak hücrenin orijinal haline benzer bir duruma getirilmesi temeline dayanır.

Testte kullanılan mikroorganizmalardan birisi Salmonella typhimurium diğeri ise E.coli'dir.

Prosedür, 1970'lerin başında Bruce Ames ve Berkeley'deki California Üniversitesi'ndeki grubu tarafından bir dizi makalede anlatılmıştır.^[1]^[2]^[3]^[4]
